Curling loses another ambassador

The World Curling Federation is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Canada's Keith Reilly, who passed away on December 18, 2012 after a lengthy hospital stay. Keith had a long affiliation with our sport, representing Canada on the international stage on several occasions including the Scotch Cup (World Championship) in Perth, Scotland in 1967.

WCF World Rankings following 2012 Pacific-Asia & European Championships

Following the conclusion of the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2012 in Karlstad, Sweden, the World Curling Federation has released its latest world rankings which reflect team finishes at the Europeans and the Pacific-Asia Curling Curling Championships 2012, held in Naseby, New Zealand in November. ECC 2012 - Men's Gold Medal Game

The large crowd got exactly what they came to see, when Niklas Edin led his Swedish team of Sebastian Kraupp, Fredrik Lindberg, lead Victor Kjäll and alternate Oscar Eriksson to an 8-5 victory over Norway in Saturday afternoon's men's final of the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2012 in Karlstad, Sweden, Edin's hometown.

ECC 2012 - Women's Gold Medal Game

In Saturday morning's women's final at the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in Karlstad, Sweden, Russia defeated defending champions Scotland by 6-5 after an extra end.

Saint John, NB, Canada to host 2014 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship

After 15 years, the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship is returning to Saint John, New Brunswick in Canada from 15-23 March 2014. “The people of the city of Saint John and the Province of New Brunswick put on a first class show for all of the world in 1999”, declared Kate Caithness, President of the World Curling Federation.

Curling world loses great friend: Philip Dawson

The World Curling Federation expresses its sympathy following the death of former International Curling Federation President, Philip Dawson. Philip died peacefully at home in Milltimber, Aberdeen on Saturday, December 1st 2012, aged 92 years. Philip was a highly regarded practising solicitor in Aberdeen and held the position of President of the Society of Advocates.

WCF confirms 2013 & 2014 Annual Congress venues

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has announced that Copenhagen, Denmark will host the 2013 WCF Annual Congress and Reno Tahoe in the USA will host the event in 2014. The Danish capital, Copenhagen, will welcome delegates to the second WCF Annual Congress between the 26th of August to the 2nd of September 2013.

Sweden Set to Host 2012 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships

For the fourth time in the event's history, Sweden will host the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships when play gets underway on Saturday 8th December in Karlstad's Löfbergs Lila Arena (men and women A Group) and the Karlstad Curling Club (men and women B Group). The previous Swedish host venues were Vasteras (1983), Sundsvall (1994) and Örnsköldsvik (2008).

REMINDER: World Curling Federation seeks Hall of Fame nominations

The World Curling Federation is seeking nominations for the World Curling Hall of Fame. The Induction Committee are looking for nomination for individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the sport of curling either on or off the ice. Anyone can make a nomination, however the WCF will check that all nominees have the support of their home Member Association.

World’s best curlers head to Las Vegas!

In a joint announcement today by the World Curling Federation (WCF), Canadian Curling Association (CCA) and U.S. Curling Association (USCA) it was revealed that the 2014 World Financial Group Continental Cup will be staged in Las Vegas from January 16-19 at the 5,000-seat Orleans Arena, home to ice hockey’s Las Vegas Wranglers.

China men win gold at Pacific-Asia Curling Championship 2012

China won gold at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships after defeating Japan 6-2. As a result Japan took silver while Australia won bronze after defeating Korea.

China women win gold at Pacific-Asia Curling Championship 2012

China women are celebrating winning the gold medal at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championship 2012 after defeating Japan 10-4 today. Japan therefore take the silver medal and Korea have won bronze after defeating Australia.

Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2012 begin Sunday in New Zealand

The 2012 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships get underway in Naseby, New Zealand on Sunday 18 November. 13 teams (7 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams) from the World Curling Federation’s Pacific-Asia region will take part in the event with the finals taking place a week later on Sunday 25 November.
