Switzerland beat Norway 8-6 to win the men's gold medal final of Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2013 in Stavanger, Norway on Saturday afternoon. This was the first gold medal for this Swiss team, consisting of Sven Michel (skip), Claudio Pätz (third), Benoit Schwarz (second), Simon Gempler (lead) and Sandro Trolliet (alternate).

Sweden women were crowned 2013 European Curling Champions after defeating Scotland in the gold medal final of the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in Stavanger, Norway. In the first end, Scotland skip Eve Muirhead had a complete miss with her attempted take-out to hand Sweden a steal of one point.

It is with great sadness that the World Curling Federation has learnt of the death of Ivo Lorenzi. Ivo, born in 1923 in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, died on 9 November 2013, aged 90. He is widely acknowledged to be one of the founding fathers of curling in Italy today.

The Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2013 get underway in Shanghai, China, on Tuesday 12 November. 11 teams (six men’s teams and five women’s teams) from the World Curling Federation’s Pacific-Asia zone will take part in the event which will be staged in the Fei Yang Skating Centre in Shanghai’s Pu Dong District and will run until the finals on Tuesday 19 November.
