The wonderful thing about an Olympics and Paralympics is that its legacy doesn’t just impact the host nation, or an individual sport as a whole, it can reach down and change the life of an individual athlete from the other side of the world or inspire a viewer to set ambitions they may never have had before.

There are many reasons why a city decides to bid for an Olympic Games. One of the main reasons is the legacy left afterwards. The likes of China, Canada and Great Britain have all benefited from being a host nation and in turn have seen a boost in performance. The next nation that could follow this success is South Korea, after their most successful Winter Olympics, winning a record 17 medals.

The Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2018 is set to take place at the Gangneung Curling Centre, the recent Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games curling venue, in Gangneung, Republic of Korea this week.

Canada beat Spain 6-2 in the gold medal game at the Kelowna Curling Club, in Kelowna, Canada on Saturday 20 October 2018 to win Canada’s first world mixed title. It was the first time the two teams met throughout the championship, and first ever world final appearance for Spain.

Hosts Canada and Spain have advanced to the gold medal game at the Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championship 2018 after two entertaining semi-finals at the Kelowna Curling Club. Spain advanced to their first ever world level gold medal game after a commanding 6-2 win over Russia.

The quarter-finals at the Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championship found Canada, Norway, Russia and Spain advancing to the semi-finals tomorrow, Saturday 20 October at 10.00 PDT. The Canadian hosts faced previously undefeated Scotland to kick off the evening session. Canada opened with three consecutive stolen ends to take an early advantage over the Scots, 3-0.

After four tense games in the Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championship 2018 qualification round, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey have moved on to the quarter-final stage. Switzerland took the early advantage in their game against Czech Republic with a score of four points in the third end.

Camilla Jensen (DEN) plays her 200th championship game and Irene Schori (SUI) plays her 100th championship game Wednesday at 16.00 PDT in Kelowna at the Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling championship. She comes off the ice with a smile of pure enthusiasm. I’m talking about Camilla Jensen, who today at 4.00p.m. exactly, will play her 200th game of curling while representing Denmark.

As Tallinn looks set to host its second major curling competition in the shape of the European Championships, it's worth asking why Estonia’s capital has been chosen to host another WCF event. The city’s distinct architecture is one of its most famous features where you can see a mix of both old and new structures. But there is a lot more to Tallinn than looking at the buildings.

The sporting world is deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the sudden passing of a dear friend Patrick Baumann. In addition to his position as Secretary General of FIBA, Patrick was an IOC Member, the President of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Winter Games, President of GAISF, Chair of the LA 2028 Co-ordination Commission among many other roles.

It’s a season of firsts for the Chinese Taipei curling team. It’s their first time with a mixed team at a World Curling Championship. Heidi Lin and Amanda Chou, who play vice and lead respectively, are the first female curlers for the country in over a decade.
