Sweden’s Team Anna Hasselborg and United States’ Team John Shuster, who are the Olympic curling gold medallists from PyeongChang 2018, have won the ‘Best Female Athlete Team of PyeongChang 2018’ and the ‘Best Male Athlete Team of PyeongChang 2018’ awards respectively. These were awarded at the fifth ANOC Awards 2018, being held in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday.
Curling Tallinn is a small club with big ambitions. After hosting the recent Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2018 and the elevation of the wheelchair curling team to the world championships the future looks bright for this enthusiastic city.

Scotland won their first men’s European title since 2008 when Bruce Mouat’s team beat the Swedish world champions by 9-5 in Saturday afternoon’s final of the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia.

The women and men B-Division played their finals on Saturday evening at the Le Gruyère AOP European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Norway took the women’s title with a 7-6 victory over Estonia. Norway opened the scoring with a single point in the first end, followed by a steal of one point in the second end. Estonia responded quickly, not allowing Norway to build an advantage.

Italy’s men’s team have won a bronze medal at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2018, for the first time in this event since 1979. Also, claiming bronze medals on Friday night was Germany’s women’s team. Germany women beat Russia 7-4 in the bronze medal game, meanwhile, Italy’s men’s team claimed bronze by overcoming Germany 8-6.

The B-Division women played their semi-finals on Friday morning at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Estonia reached the final at their home event with a 7-3 win over Turkey. Estonia opened the scoring in the second end and left Turkey without a chance to gain the upper hand. A 10-8 victory over Lithuania booked Norway a ticket to the final.

Olympic champions Sweden will face Switzerland – unbeaten so far in this event – in Saturday’s women’s final of the Le Gruyere AOP European Championships, in Tallinn, Estonia. To reach the final, Sweden beat Russia by 7-4 while Switzerland were 6-4 winners over Germany. Russia and Germany will now play for bronze medals this evening.

Defending champions Sweden will play Scotland in Saturday’s (24 November) men’s gold medal final at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia, following their semi-final wins. Sweden beat Germany by 6-3 while it took Scotland all the way to an extra end to get past Italy, by 9-6, in their semi-final.

Spanish women’s skip, Oihane Otaegi reached a landmark at the Le Gruyère AOP European Championships 2018, on Tuesday, when she lined up on the ice for her 100th game for Spain. Living up to the occasion, the Spanish team took a 7-6 victory over Hungary in the event’s B-Division. “I feel great,” she said before the match.

Jüri Ratas, Prime Minister of Estonia, gave the Le Gruyère AOP European Championships 2018 in Tallinn the best possible send-off by delivering an impressive draw to the button with the ceremonial first stone, during the opening ceremony, of the event.
