The Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland will continue to cement its place as a world class international curling venue when it hosts the second World Qualification Event. The competition will run from Monday 13 to Saturday 18 January 2020. The next editions of the World Wheelchair-B and World Junior-B Curling Championships will also be held there.

Less than a week after the World Junior Curling Championships 2019 wrapped up in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada, many of the athletes who competed are set to return to the international stage.

The World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2019, which will feature 12 Member Associations for the first time, begins at The Peak, in Stirling, Scotland on Sunday (3 March). Previously, ten Member Associations competed for the world wheelchair curling title.

It went all the way to an extra end, but with a single stolen point, Russia claimed the women’s gold medals, beating Canada by 8-7 in Saturday (23 February) afternoon’s women’s final of the World Junior Championships in Liverpool, Canada. In the bronze medal game, Switzerland beat China by 6-4.

Tyler Tardi successfully completed the defence of his world title when he led his Canadian team to a 9-4 win over Switzerland in Saturday morning’s men’s gold medal game at the World Junior Curling Championships 2019 in Liverpool, Canada. At the same time Scotland took bronze medals, beating Norway by 8-5.
For most of the teams taking part, the World Junior Curling Championships, staged in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada, might well be considered as the highlight of their season, but for two – Norway men and Korea women – these Championships are a staging post to even more curling action.

A new economic impact survey reported that the World Mixed Curling Championships, held over a week in Kelowna last October, brought in $1.21 million in new spending to BC. Kelowna welcomed 350 out of town visitors taking part in the event, 25 percent of which were international guests.

After rolling through the round-robin stage undefeated at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain won gold in the final against previously undefeated Switzerland, 6-2. The European Youth Olympic Festival began on Monday (11 February) and wrapped up on Friday (15 February).

The World Junior Curling Championships return to Canada for the first time in a decade when the 2019 event gets underway at the Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia on Saturday 16 February.
One year ago today (8 February) eight mixed doubles teams at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, in PyeongChang, South Korea, made history. They became the first mixed doubles teams to step on the ice at the Olympic Winter Games. The PyeongChang Games marked the debut for curling’s new, fast paced discipline – mixed doubles.

A total of 14 junior mixed curling teams are gearing up for the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 which starts this Sunday (10 February) in Pale, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Peki Arena. The venue holds 2,160 seats and is a familiar host to a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, handball and gymnastics.

The World Curling Federation is saddened to hear that two curling stalwarts, Bob Picken, from Canada and Scotland’s Anne Malcolm, have both passed away. World Curling Federation President, Kate Caithness, said: “It is truly heartbreaking to have received the news of the deaths of two great friends to the international curling family.

Following on from the success of the 2018 event in North Bay, Ontario another first-time Canadian host city will welcome the world’s best women’s curling teams in 2020.
