Before their historic Bronze medal winning run at the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2019, in Silkeborg, Denmark, World Curling TV spent some time with Team Korea to get to know the team behind the extremely successful season for Korean curling, Team Minji Kim.

Following the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 the latest women’s curling World Rankings have been published. Kore has climbed four places to second position. This is the highest world ranking for a Pacific-Asia team since the world rankings were introduced in 2006.

The World Mixed Curling Championship 2019 will be held in Curl Aberdeen, in Aberdeen, Scotland from 12 to 19 October. This appointment comes a year after the same venue hosted the World Junior Curling Championships 2018.

The world’s top men’s curlers will be competing at the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019, in Lethbridge, Alberta, in Canada, from Saturday 30 March until Sunday 7 April. The ENMAX Centre will be the venue for the World Men’s Curling Championship, which celebrates its 60th anniversary.

A nerveless draw into the four-foot ring with the last stone of an extra end by fourth player Alina Paetz gave Switzerland an 8-7 win over Sweden in Sunday afternoon’s gold medal final of the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 in Silkeborg, Denmark, to make her team world champions.

Curling history was made when Korea’s women – skip Minji Kim, third Hyerin Kim, second player Taei Yang and lead Sujin Kim, supported by coach Sungjun Lee – won their nation’s first world championship medal, by either men or women, when they beat Japan by 7-5 in Sunday morning’s bronze medal game at the LGT World Women’s Championship 2019 in Silkeborg, Denmark.

The Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019 is set to take place from 30 March to 7 April in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. A total of 13 men’s teams from around the globe, each with their own journey to get to the championship, will battle for the world title over nine days of play.

The World Curling Federation has appointed eight members to its new Technical Commission that will be given a brief to ensure outstanding ice conditions at all World Curling Federation events. The commission will also be charged with assisting Member Associations in improving existing, or building new, dedicated curling facilities.

The World Junior Curling Championships 2020 will be held in Krasnoyarsk Russia, next season, from Saturday 15 to Saturday 22 February. Krasnoyarsk, is in Siberia, in the heart of Russia, and held the Winter Universiade Games, earlier in March. The World Juniors in 2020 will be played in the 3,500 seater Crystal Ice Arena. Ice Hockey was played there during the university games.

The World Curling Federation has appointed Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic gold medallist, Rhona Howie (nee. Martin), from Scotland, to its staff team. Howie takes up the role of Equipment and Logistics Officer based at Greenacres, near Glasgow, where the majority of World Curling competition equipment is kept.

World rankings updated at the conclusion of the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2019.

China have won the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2019 in Stirling, Scotland. Their victory came against the hosts, Scotland, at The Peak, in Stirling, by 5-2. This is first time China have collected the World Wheelchair Curling Championship gold medals.
