Sweden have won gold at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2019 in Stavanger, Norway, beating Canada by a score of 6-5. After losing 6-7 to Canada earlier in the week during the round robin, the Swedes – Anna Hasselborg and Oskar Eriksson – reversed their fortunes this time around, ultimately thanks to a final draw to the button on the last stone of the eighth end.

Canada’s senior women’s and men’s teams have won the World Senior Curling Championships double for a second year running. With a score of three points in the opening end of the gold medal final, thanks to an open draw by skip Sherry Anderson, Canada women set themselves on track to defend their world women’s senior title, beating Denmark by 10-1 in just six ends.

Sweden advance to the finals after a 7-5 win against Australia – a tight game where the lead changed hands four times.

You won’t hear the Finnish men’s team yelling “hard” very often at the Sømarka Arena, in Stavanger, Norway, this week. It’s not that they don’t know this is a time-honoured curling tradition, but simply that yelling won’t help much. Two members of the Finnish team at the World Senior Curling Championships 2019 are hard of hearing.

Statement from the World Curling Federation Following an incident on Sunday 21 April, the World Curling Federation has suspended, Viktor Kim (Kazakhstan), from the World Senior and Mixed Doubles Curling Championships 2019 being held in the Sørmarka Arena, in Stavanger, Norway. This suspension has been handed to Mr. Kim for breach of The Rules of Curling R17 Inappropriate Behaviour.

Belarus women and France men have won the European Curling Championship C-Division 2019 in Brasov, Romania and secured their places in the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships B-Division 2019 being held in Helsingborg, Sweden from 15-23 November. Slovakia women and Bulgaria men also qualified for the B-Division after winning the silver medals.

A record of 48 Member Associations will compete at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2019 in Stavanger, Norway, when it gets underway in the Sørmarka Arena on Saturday (20 April). For Kosovo, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine, this event will be their first time competing at a World Curling Federation event.
