Teams competing in the new Curling World Cup will earn points for the World Curling Tour ranking system, also known as the Order of Merit. The World Curling Tour ranking is for individual teams and can include multiple teams from a single Member Association or professional multi-national teams.

The World Curling Federation has appointed the Czech Republic’s Jiri Snitil as its newest Competitions and Development Officer. Snitil is best known as skip of the Czech Republic’s men’s team. He has represented his country at seven World Men’s Curling Championships. Also, he won a European Curling Championships bronze medal in 2012 and a European Mixed medal in 2008.

There’s no age limit when it comes to honing your curling skills. Even the games’ top players, who appear to have textbook perfect technique on the ice are continuously searching for new ways to take their abilities to the next level.

The eighth World Curling Congress and Annual General Assembly will be held in Cancun, Mexico between 4 and 6 September 2019, it has been revealed. This is the first time Mexico will host a World Curling Federation sanctioned event – and is a first step towards hosting a full international championship. It is also, only the second time the Congress will be hosted in the Americas zone.

The new Curling World Cup will commence in September and the World Curling Federation can now reveal more details about this four-leg international series. The first of the four legs will take place in the brand new Suzhou Sports Centre, in Suzhou, China. It will then head to the Ralston Arena in Omaha, United States. Next up will be the Jonkoping Curling Club in Jonkoping, Sweden.

Following a successful mixed doubles event at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, in South Korea, an additional two teams will be added to this discipline for the Games in Beijing, China in 2022. This takes the field from eight to ten, bringing the number of teams in line with the women’s and men’s events.

The World Curling Federation can confirm that its President, Kate Caithness, will stand, unopposed, for a third term at the upcoming Annual General Assembly in September. The Assembly, to be held in Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday 9 September, as part of the seventh World Curling Congress, will also see Board Director Andy Anderson stepping down after completing his term.

But not all in the sport are taking to your usual holiday destinations. In fact, a town of 15,000 people happens to be one of the most popular summer destinations for young curlers.

It has been announced today that the World Curling Federation (WCF) Athlete Commission has two new members, after the conclusion of its elections. Canadian women’s Olympic gold medal winner and two-time world champion, Jill Officer and Czech Republic’s women’s skip, Anna Kubeskova have been elected to the commission.
