For many of the teams taking part, the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2017 will either be a last championship warm-up for February’s 2018 Olympic Winter Games or a final dress-rehearsal for December’s Olympic Qualifying Event.

Korea’s men’s team has followed its women’s team to victory at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017 in Erina, Australia on Thursday (9 November). Korea beat China in the gold medal final in the Erina Ice Arena, in a game that came down to a last stone measure to decide the winner.

The Korean women’s team have won the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017, in the Erina Ice Arena, on Australia’s Central Coast on Thursday (9 November) morning. This is the second year in a row this team – made up of skip EunJung Kim, third KyeongAe Kim, second SeonYeong Kim, lead YeongMi Kim and alternate Chohi Kim – have won gold medals at this event.

The Hong Kong women’s team at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017 – being held in the Erina Ice Arena, on Australia’s Central Coast – have qualified for the semi-finals for the very first time. This is only Hong Kong women’s second time competing at this international event, after making their debut in Uiseong, Republic of Korea in 2016.

The men’s round-robin has drawn to a close and the final play-off team has been decided in the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017 tonight (Tuesday 7 November) at the Erina Ice Arena on the Australian Central Coast. Korea defeated Qatar 12-4 to secure the fourth placed position in the rankings and the remaining semi-final place.

The Japanese women’s team at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017, being held in the Erina Ice Arena, on Australia’s Central Coast, has secured its place in the events semi-finals. Japan, qualify along with Korea and China, so far. The final play-off spot is still available with two sessions of women’s round-robin games still to play.

Qatar’s men’s team have won their first international curling game, since making their debut at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in 2016. They beat Kazakhstan 8-5 on Sunday (5 November) at the 2017 event being held in Erina, Ice Arena, on Australia’s Central Coast.

International curling heads to warmer climates this week, when the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017 begin in Erina, Australia. The event, which runs from 2 to 9 November at the Erina Ice Arena – and which will be broadcasted on World Curling TV and national broadcasters – has 15 teams representing nine of the World Curling Federation’s Pacific-Asia Member Associations.

The World Curling Federation has taken a major step towards implementing its World of Series of Curling by appointing a World Series Manager. Jorge Vazquez, from Mexico – the first member of staff to be fully dedicated to this project – has been charged with implementing the four-leg international series, which will begin in season 2018-2019.
