The World Curling Federation is deeply saddened to learn of the death of former world curling champion and World Curling Hall of Fame recipient, Chuck Hay MBE, of Scotland. Hay sadly passed away on Friday 4 August, aged 87.

Spanish curler enhancing curling knowledge at Füssen courses

Spanish mixed doubles athlete Irantzu Garcia has been in Füssen, Germany this past week taking part in some of the curling courses that are held there by the World Curling Federation each year. Garcia, attended the umpire basic and advanced instruction courses, which are part of a series of courses, about ice making, umpiring and coaching, run each year during the first week of July.

World Curling Federation camps and courses season underway

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has begun an extensive programme of camps and courses, which will run in the coming months, for athletes, officials, administrators, technicians and those new to curling. Currently the annual ice technician, umpire and coaching courses are taking place in Füssen, Germany.

Australia awarded Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017

The Australian Curling Federation will host the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2017 (PACC), between 2 and 9 November, in the Erina Ice Arena, which lies on New South Wales’ central coast. This will be the first time in 21 years that Australia will host these championships. They previously held them in Adelaide in 1993 and Sydney in 1996.

Spain teams win European Curling Championships C-Division 2017

Spain’s women’s and men’s teams have won the European Curling Championships C-Division 2017, in Andorra’s Palau de Gel d’Andorra. In winning the gold medals, they have also qualified for the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships B-Division 2017, which will be held in St Gallen, Switzerland, between 17 and 25 November.

Teams qualify for European C-Division play-offs

Poland, Spain, Slovakia and Ireland women and Spain, Ireland, France and Belarus men have qualified for the European Curling Championships C-Division 2017 play-offs at the conclusion of the round-robin on Friday (12 May), in Andorra. These teams still have a chance to qualify for the B-Division of the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2017 in November.
