Korea won a historic first-ever men’s medal when they beat USA in Sunday (26 February) afternoon’s final to take gold medals at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017 (WJCC), in the Gangneung Curling Centre, Gangneung, Republic of Korea.

In Saturday (25 February) afternoon’s women’s medal finals, at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017, Sweden captured gold medals, with a 10-7 victory over Scotland. On the next sheet, in the Gangneung Curling Centre, Gangneung, Republic of Korea, Canada won bronze medals over hosts Korea, with a score of 6-3.

China’s men and women took home the gold medals at the eighth Asian Winter Games being played at the Sapporo Curling Stadium in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. In the men’s competition, China, skipped by Rui Liu, with third Xiaoming Xu, Second Dexin Ba, lead Jialiang Zang and alternate Qiang Zou defeated Yusuke Morozumi’s Japan team 11-4 to win the gold medals.

Katerina Maryschuk and Thomas Rowland have joined the World Curling Federation (WCF) media team at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017. They are the latest competition winners of the World Curling Federation (WCF) Sports Media Trainee Programme.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has revealed today that the World Junior-B Curling Championships 2018 (WJBCC) will take place in the Kisakallio Sports Institute, in Lohja, Finland. The event will run from Wednesday 3 to Wednesday 10 January 2018. This is the second time these championships will have been held in Lohja.

Women’s influence on curling has been well documented since the early 20th century and has only continued to grow along with the sport itself. The CPT World Women’s Curling Championship 2017 taking place in Beijing, China from 18 to 26 of March will be a continuation of this strong tradition, and the opportunity to see curling grow in Asia.

The round robin stage of both the men and women’s competitions at the 2017 Asian Winter Games, being held in Sapporo, Japan, has drawn to a close today (Tuesday 21 February). In the men’s competition China, skipped by Rui Liu topped the round robin table with an undefeated record of five wins and no losses to claim the first place in the semi-final stage.

Russia took the gold medals in both the men and women’s competitions at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival being held in Erzurum Curling Hall in Erzurum, Turkey. In the men’s final Russia defeated Netherlands by a score of 5-3 after seven ends.

Some 12 months ago, young athletes from seven Olympic winter sports descended on the Norwegian city of Lillehammer for the second Winter Youth Olympic Games. It was there that the mixed curling event hosted 16 teams in a five-day competition.

The round robin stage of the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival being held in Erzurum, Turkey has drawn to a close. In the men’s competition Slovenia topped the group with a record of three wins and one loss. They began their competition with an 8-1 victory over Norway, before losing their next game to Russia by a score of 5-3.
