International curling returns to Sapporo, in Hokkaido, Japan, when the 8th Asian Winter Games begin on Saturday (18 February) in the Sapporo Curling Stadium. Sapporo is the fourth largest city in Japan, the largest on the northern island of Hokkaido and played host to the 1972 Olympic Winter Games, the first ever held in Asia as well as the first ever Asian Winter games in 1986.

Women’s and men’s teams representing 12 Member Associations from across the globe will come together in the Republic of Korea on Thursday (16 February), as the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017 (WJCC) gets underway. This Olympic Winter Games 2018 test event will be held in the Gangneung Curling Centre, in Gangneung, Korea from 16 to 26 February.

The European Curling Championships 2018 (ECC) will take place next year, between 16 and 24 November, at the Tondiraba Ice Hall, in Tallinn, Estonia. The Estonian Curling Association signed an agreement with the World Curling Federation (WCF) to host the championships, at a special signing ceremony attended by WCF President, Kate Caithness today (Thursday 9 February).
Curling Night in America aired during January and February 2017. This year's competition, which was filmed in December 2016 in Dulluth, Minnesota, features both team and mixed doubles action - with teams competing from USA, China, Japan and Scotland. The format of the competition sees one men’s, women’s and mixed doubles team from each nation competing in round-robin tournaments.

Canada women and Great Britain men have won gold medals in the curling event at the Winter Universiade Games, being held in the Almaty Arena, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Sweden’s women’s and Norway’s men’s teams have won the bronze medals on the penultimate day of the curling competition at the Winter Universiade Games, being held in the Almaty Arena, in Kazakhstan.

International curling will return to Erzurum, in Turkey, when the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) begins on Saturday (11 February), in the Erzurum Curling Arena.

The World Curling Federation has announced that its Olympic Qualification Event 2017 (OQE), which will finalise the team line-ups for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, Korea (8-25 February), will take place in Pilsen, Czech Republic. A total of eight women’s and eight men’s teams will compete at the event between 5 and 10 December, in the Winter Arena Košutka.

USA's women's and men's teams will compete at the upcoming CPT World Women’s and Ford World Men’s Curling Championships 2017 after Nina Roth and John Shuster's teams defeated Brazil in three straight games each to win the Americas Challenge in Duluth, Minnesota.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) are partnering together to promote clean sport at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017 in Gangneung, Korea (16-26 February) next month. This is the first time the two organisations have teamed up to deliver WADA’s Legacy Outreach programme.

Brazil and USA will compete, in Duluth, Minnesota, this weekend (27-29 January) at the Americas Challenge, in pursuit of places at the 2017 World Curling Championships. Each year 12 teams compete in both the men’s and women’s World Curling Championships (WCCs) - two from the Americas zone, eight from Europe (when the WCCs are outside of Europe) and two from the Pacific-Asia zone.
