World Curling Federation confirm participants for Sweeping Summit 2016

The World Curling Federation has confirmed the participants that will take part in the Sweeping Summit 2016, that begins today (Tuesday 24 May), near Ottawa, Canada.

Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2016 places for Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia and France

Belarus women and Estonia men have won Gold medals at the European Curling Championships C-Division 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as well as places at the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships B-Division to be played in Glasgow, Scotland later this year. Silver medals were won by Lithuania women and France men, who also secured spots in the B-Division.

Russia win Gold at World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2016

Russia - Anastasia Bryzgalova and Alexander Krushelnitskiy - claimed the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2016 title with a 7-5 victory over China at the Löfbergs Lila Arena, in Karlstad, Sweden. China - Rui Wang and Dexin Ba - collected Silver medals, while a 9-7 win over Scotland secured USA - Tabitha Peterson and Joe Polo - Bronze medals.

China, Scotland, USA and Russia into World Mixed Doubles semi-finals

Semi-final teams were determined at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2016 – being played in the Löfbergs Lila Arena, in Karlstad, Sweden – after Friday (22 April) evening’s quarter-finals. Scotland defeated previously unbeaten Canada, 6-5, with a takeout for the winning point in the eighth end. The two teams were even at 5-5 after a back and forth battle.

The two-time Mixed Doubles World Champions play out of Hungary’s one and only curling club – a two sheet rink in Budapest, Hungary. After the team unexpectedly won Gold in their first ever World Championship in 2013, some may have said it was luck.

Slovenia ready to host European Curling Championship C-Division 2016

    The World Mixed Doubles Championship 2016, in Karlstad, Sweden, is a historic event for three countries. Serbia, Qatar, and Luxembourg have never competed at a World Curling Championship until now. In a 42 team field, a record number for this event, there are curlers with varieties of backgrounds – some are World Champions, some are beginners.
