Following the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019 the latest men’s curling World Rankings have been published. The top five men’s teams remain unchanged while Japan and Italy each move up one place in the top ten.

Sweden successfully defended their title when they beat hosts Canada by 7-2 in the gold medal final of the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019, in the ENMAX Centre, in Lethbridge, Canada, a win that gives their skip Niklas Edin a fourth world crown.

As the medal games loom at the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019 in Lethbridge, Canada, thoughts are already turning to next year and the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship 2020, which will be hosted in the Emirates Arena, in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city.
The World Curling Federation will induct three people to its World Curling Hall of Fame in 2019. They are Norway’s Dordi Nordby, the late Michael Burns, Sr. from Canada and Scotland’s Michael [Mike] Thomson, who was the first Secretary General of the World Curling Federation.

The World Curling Federation is pleased to announce the All Stars team for the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men’s Curling Championship 2019. Two of the winners are from the reigning world champions, Sweden – fourth Niklas Edin and third Oskar Eriksson. The all-star team also includes Japan’s Yusamasa Tanida and Canada’s Ben Hebert.

While the 2018-2019 curling season is winding down for most curlers, the teams looking to book their spots in next season’s European B-Division are gearing up. The European Curling Championships C-Division 2019 will begin on Friday (12 April) for teams looking to be promoted to the European Curling Championships B-Division. The event will be hosted at the Olympic Ice Rink in Brasov, Romania.

Following the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 the latest women’s curling World Rankings have been published. Kore has climbed four places to second position. This is the highest world ranking for a Pacific-Asia team since the world rankings were introduced in 2006.

The World Mixed Curling Championship 2019 will be held in Curl Aberdeen, in Aberdeen, Scotland from 12 to 19 October. This appointment comes a year after the same venue hosted the World Junior Curling Championships 2018.

Curling history was made when Korea’s women – skip Minji Kim, third Hyerin Kim, second player Taei Yang and lead Sujin Kim, supported by coach Sungjun Lee – won their nation’s first world championship medal, by either men or women, when they beat Japan by 7-5 in Sunday morning’s bronze medal game at the LGT World Women’s Championship 2019 in Silkeborg, Denmark.
