Russia women and Norway men have won the gold medals at the Winter Universiade 2015 in Granada, Spain. In the women’s final, Russia faced Canada. The Canadians, on an unbeaten record before the final, were skipped by Breanne Meakin. They built up an early lead thanks to a steal of three points in the third end and were leading 6-2 by the fifth end break.

Play begins at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2015 on Saturday 7 February, at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland. Ten mixed national teams will compete in the event, which marks the start of the qualification process for the Wheelchair Curling competition at the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

Switzerland women and Great Britain men won the bronze medals at the Winter Universiade 2015 being held in Granada, Spain. The women’s bronze medal game between Switzerland and Sweden proved to be a tight game, but Switzerland eventually secured their 8-7 win by scoring two points in the tenth end with a straightforward takeout.

The semi-final line-ups have now been confirmed following the conclusion of the round-robin stages of the curling competition at the 27th Winter Universiade taking place in Granada, Spain. Canada, Sweden, Russia and Switzerland have all qualified for the women’s semi-finals while Norway, Russia, Great Britain and Sweden have qualified in the men’s competition.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) announced today that the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2016 will be hosted by Lucerne in Switzerland between 21 and 28 February 2016 (tentative). The Championship will be held in Eiszentrum Luzern, a multi-sports venue containing a four sheet curling facility close to Lake Lucerne.

The USA will take on Brazil in the Americas Challenge which begins on Friday at USA Curling's National Training Centre in Blaine, Minnesota. Brazil, a World Curling Federation member since 1998, will challenge the USA for the second Americas zone berth at the upcoming Ford World Men's Curling Championship 2015 which is taking place in Halifax, Canada.
