Tårnby, Denmark to host 2013 European C-Group Championships

The World Curling Federation (WCF) is pleased to announce that Tårnby Curling Club in Denmark, will host the European C-Group Curling Championships from 7-13 October 2013.

WCF announces Athlete Commission and Competition and Rules Commission

The World Curling Federation (WCF) is pleased to announce the list of individuals selected to sit on the inaugural WCF Athlete Commission and the first WCF Competitions and Rules Commission. The WCF Athlete Commission will be chaired by 2002 Olympic gold medallist and WCF Vice-President, Bent Ramsfjell, from Norway.

Hungary crowned World Mixed Doubles Champions 2013

Hungary made history today as they won their first World Curling Championship title as they defeated Sweden 8-7 in the gold medal game of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2013 at the Grant Harvey Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Canadian men and women win World Senior Curling Championships

The Canadian senior men and women’s Teams won the 2013 World Senior Curling Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick on Sunday afternoon. The Canadian women’s team defeated Austria 13-1 in seven ends for their victory, while the Canadian men’s team defeated New Zealand 6-4.

Curling World mourns the passing of Ice Pioneer

Long time Canadian icemaker Clarence (Shorty) Jenkins, known equally for the swingy ice that he produced and the pink hat he wore while doing it, died on Thursday after a lengthy illness. He was 77. Jenkins was one of the first icemakers to start experimenting with water, scraping patterns and stones, always in search of a little more crowd-pleasing swing in the ice.

Dumfries, Scotland to stage 2014 World Mixed Doubles and World Senior Curling Championships

The World Curling Federation (WCF) and the Royal Caledonian Curling Club today announced that the Scottish town of Dumfries will host the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship and World Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in 2014. All three world championships will take place at the Dumfries Ice Bowl between April 23-29, 2014.

Edinburgh, Scotland to host 2013 European Mixed Curling Championships

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has announced that the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, will host the 2013 European Mixed Curling Championships at Murrayfield Curling Rink between September 14th and 21st. The European Mixed Curling Championships 2013 invite each European Member Association to send one mixed team consisting of two male and two female curlers.

Sweden were crowned world champions when they beat Hosts Canada by 8-6 in Sunday afternoon's gold medal final of the Ford World Men's Curling Championship 2013 in Victoria, Canada. The Swedes opened with a score of two in the first end when their skip Niklas Edin delivered a nose-hit on a Canadian stone.

WMCC 2013: Scotland win Bronze Medal

Scotland beat Denmark by 7-6 in Sunday morning's bronze medal game at the Ford World Men's Curling Championship 2013, in Victoria, Canada. The Scots opened with a score of two in the first end, and then Denmark blanked three ends. The Danes finally got onto the score board in the fifth end with two points when skip Rasmus Stjerne drew into the house to level the score at 2-2.

Denmark faced Canada in Saturday morning's Page 3 versus 4 Play-off game at the Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Victoria, Canada, with a place in the semi-final up for grabs. Denmark opened with last stone advantage as they took one point in the opening end. Canada then opened their account with a score of two points in the second end.

WMCC 2013: Sweden defeat Scotland in 1v2 Play-off

European champions Sweden beat table-topping Scotland by 6-5 in Friday's Page 1-v 2 Play-off at the Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Victoria, Canada, to go straight to Sunday afternoon's final. This was a tight game all the way with Sweden making the early breakthrough when they scored two points in the second end for a 2-1 lead.
