The Japanese junior women’s team (skipped by Sayaka Yoshimura) won gold at the 2013 Pacific-Asia Junior Curling Championships at the Tokoro Curling Hall in Kitami City, Japan on Wednesday beating China 7-4 in the final. The Chinese junior men’s team (skipped by Qiang Zou) won the gold medal in the junior men’s event with a 7-5 win over Korea.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has announced that the Chinese capital, Beijing, will host the 2014 World Men’s Curling Championship. The event will take place from March 29 to April 6, 2014.

Team North America have won the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup for the fifth time after scoring 37 points, 14 more than rivals Team World who finished with 23 points.

Team North America extended their lead to nine points over rivals Team World in the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup as both teams head into the final day of play tomorrow. Mixed Doubles were first up this morning and saw Team North America dominate, with three victories earning them three valuable points for their efforts.

Team North America overtook rivals Team World during the second day of play at the World Financial Group Continental Cup, finishing the day with 13 points to Team World’s eight. Having only taken half a point out of three games in the opening women’s team games yesterday, Team North America hit back this morning, taking two and a half points from two wins and a draw.

Team World will take a one point lead into day two of the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup after scoring five points, while Team North America scored four in the opening day of play at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, Canada. In the women’s team event this morning, Team World got off to a great start, dominating proceedings with two wins and a draw to take 2.

The Italian junior men and Danish junior women have won the finals of the European Junior Curling Challenge 2013 and secured the last European spots to be able to compete at this year’s World Junior Curling Championships in Sochi, Russia. The Italians, skipped by Andrea Pilzer, won the junior men’s final against Denmark led by Tobias Thune 7-6.

The World Financial Group Continental Cup gets underway on Thursday in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The ninth edition of this unique international curling competition takes place between January 10-13 and is the third time the event has been staged in British Columbia, following Chilliwack in 2006 and Langley for the 2012 edition.

The World Curling Federation is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Canada's Keith Reilly, who passed away on December 18, 2012 after a lengthy hospital stay. Keith had a long affiliation with our sport, representing Canada on the international stage on several occasions including the Scotch Cup (World Championship) in Perth, Scotland in 1967.

The large crowd got exactly what they came to see, when Niklas Edin led his Swedish team of Sebastian Kraupp, Fredrik Lindberg, lead Victor Kjäll and alternate Oscar Eriksson to an 8-5 victory over Norway in Saturday afternoon's men's final of the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2012 in Karlstad, Sweden, Edin's hometown.

In Saturday morning's women's final at the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in Karlstad, Sweden, Russia defeated defending champions Scotland by 6-5 after an extra end.
