The world of curling is deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Elizabeth Busche. The junior US curler from Duluth, Minnesota, died of a rare cancer on Thursday 3 May at the age of 19. The Federation extends its sincerest condolences to Elizabeth’s family and friends and shares in their grief over this devastating loss.

Switzerland won the gold medal game at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2012 in Erzurum, Turkey, beating Sweden 7-6 in the final. For Martin Rios and teammate Nadine Lehmann it is the fourth championship title for Switzerland in the five year history of the event. Sweden’s Per Noreen and Camilla Johansson take silver.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) and the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) today announced that the City of Fredericton will host the 2013 World Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships and World Mixed Doubles. All three world championships will take place at the new Grant-Harvey Centre, April 13-20, 2013.

Ireland’s men created history today when they won their first ever world curling championship title by beating Canada 6-5 in an extra end and become World Senior Men’s Curling Champions 2012. The main turning point in the game came in the fourth end when Ireland skip, John Jo Kenny, hit a double take-out to score four points.
