Twenty top level junior curling teams from around the world are set to gather at the Waldhaus Arena in Flims, Switzerland this week to compete in the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States will be represented in the junior men’s championship.

PERTH, SCOTLAND – Following Anette Norberg and her team’s historic second gold medal win in the women’s curling competition at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Sweden has moved up to the No1 spot of the World Curling Federation women’s world rankings. Canada slips back to second position after taking silver in the women’s event.
Final standings: Gold: Canada Silver: Norway Bronze: Switzerland 4. Sweden 5. Great Britain 6. Germany 7. France 8. China 9. Denmark 10. USA Canada set a historic record on Saturday beating Norway 6-3 to take gold in the final of the men’s curling competition and becoming the only team ever to go undefeated in the Olympic Winter games event.
Sweden 4 – 5 Switzerland Having lost their semi-final to Norway, Switzerland took the consolation of bronze medal, beating Sweden by 5-4 in what was a tight medal game. Switzerland opened the scoring with a single in the first end and Sweden responded in the second.
Final standings: Gold: Sweden Silver: Canada Bronze: China 4. Switzerland 5. Denmark 6. Germany 7. Great Britain 8. Japan 9. Russia 10.
China 12 – 6 Switzerland China’s women, skipped by Bingyu Wang, added Olympic bronze to their world title when they beat Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott by 12-6 in the bronze medal game. This was the first-ever Olympic curling medal for China, and followed their 4-9 semi-final defeat by Sweden.
Sweden 3 – 6 Canada Switzerland 5 – 7 Norway Canada’s Kevin Martin will contest the second Olympic final of his career on Saturday, hoping to go one better than the silver he took from Salt Lake City in 2002, when he lost out to Norway’s Pal Trulsen.

Canada 6 – 5 Switzerland China 4 – 9 Sweden Sweden’s Anette Norberg kept her hopes of as successful defence of her Olympic title alive with a convincing 9-4 win over China’s world champions, led by Bingyu Wang. Sweden will line up in the final against Canada’s Cheryl Bernard, who beat Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott by 6-5 in the other semi-final.
